76ers Sign Former Norcross High, Georgia Tech Basketball Star Gani Lawal

Lawal transferred to Norcross High in his junior year. The Sixers' preseason roster stands at 20 now.

Over the weekend, the Philadelphia 76ers signed former Norcross High star Gani Lawal, a free agent forward, according to NBA.com.

This brings the 76ers preseason roster to 20.

In 2005, Lawal transferred to Norcross High in his junior year from Riverdale High School. He went on to play basketball for Georgia Tech for three years.

According to NBA.com, Lawal was originally an early entry candidate for the 2010 NBA Draft and was selected as the 46th overall pick by the Phoenix Suns.

He was on the Suns roster during the 2010-11 season and was also assigned to the NBA Development League.

Before signing with the 76ers, Lawal also was a member of VEF Riga of the Latvian League, the Virtus Roma of the Italian League, and a member of Nigeria’s senior national team.
