Are You Celebrating Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day?

Political sides in the same-sex marriage controversy have issued "calls to action" at the restaurant chain's outlets for Aug 1 and Aug. 3.

This could be an interesting week for Chick-fil-A, the Atlanta-based restaurant chain that recently has become a political battleground.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has called for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Aug. 1, and has set up a Facebook page to draw attention.

And the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is backing a call for a National Same-Sex Kiss Day on Friday, Aug. 3, to be held at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide.

The controversy, of course, comes from a statement by Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy, who supports the view of marriage as between a man and a woman. Dan Cathy, son of company founder Truman Cathy, said the fast-food giant was “guilty as charged” of supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

This could play out in Norcross, as the restaurant chain .
