NORCROSS, GA -- The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal traffic accident that happened early Monday morning.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., Shawn Strackbein, 47, of Winder, was driving in his white GMC Safari on Langford Road near Corner Oak Drive in unincorporated Norcross. Strackbein was traveling west on Langford Road in a curve. Strackbein lost control of his vehicle and it started to turn sideways. The vehicle struck a curb and started to roll.

According to the preliminary investigation, Strackbein was not wearing a seat belt, according to police. He was ejected out of the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries, they reported.

No other vehicles were involved. The roadway was reopened at approximately 6 a.m. Notification was made to the driver’s family.
