Norcross' Bailey Tardy Ousted in U.S. Junior Golf Championship

Sabrina Bonanno, a 17-year-old golfer from Illinois, defeated Tardy for spot in the quarterfinals.

At the close of play on Thursday, Norcross' Bailey Tardy lost her chance to advance to the quarterfinal round of the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.

Sabrina Bonanno, a 17-year-old golfer from Illinois, defeated Tardey, who earned medalist honors and led earlier in the tournament.

Tardy, who attends Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, had her first lead at the par-4 ninth. However, the par-4 10th proved to be a game changer.

"Then she started losing her strokes and I started gaining on her," Bonanno told the United States Golf Association. "Somehow, I came through and started hitting shot after shot, sticking it. It just worked out."

The tournament concludes with a 36-hole final July 27.
