One person was killed and at least three others were wounded after a large street fight led to gunfire Wednesday night in unincorporated Norcross.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said in a news release at least 20 males were preparing to fight on Reddington Lane around 10 p.m. when the shots erupted.

When officers arrived, they found a male lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead later at a local hospital. The other shooting victims were treated for gunshot wounds at Gwinnett Medical Center and Atlanta Medical Center, Washington said. One of the victims was found by a police K-9 in a shed on an adjacent street.

Washington said multiple homes and cars were struck during the exchange of gunfire between the parties involved, described as Hispanic and African American.

The identification of the male killed is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

No one was immediately taken into custody, Washington said.

Homicide detectives were working to determine the exact motive for the shootings. “The scene is very large and it will take time for Crime Scene personnel to process the scene and recover evidence,” Washington said in the news release.
