The Georgia Institute of Technology has named David Spratte of Decatur one of 50 President's Scholars. A Biochemistry major, Spratte represents the top 1 percent of early applicants to Georgia Tech.
Considered the most prestigious merit award offered to incoming Georgia Tech first-year students, the President's Scholarship emphasizes scholarship, leadership, progress and service. Recipients are selected by a committee of Georgia Tech scholarship administrators, admission professionals, faculty and alumni. More than 500 semifinalists and 100 finalists were evaluated.
Over four years, President's Scholars from Georgia will be awarded a package valued at approximately $90,000 while out-of-state recipients will receive $175,000. The packages include tuition and fees, room and board, as well as funds for academic enrichment and study abroad.
