Atlanta Couple Held Up at Gunpoint in Northlake

Three men with guns approached the couple near Northlake Mall on Wednesday night.

An Atlanta couple was held up at gunpoint by three men near Northlake Mall on Wednesday night, DeKalb County police said.

The victims, a 58-year-old man and his wife, 53, were walking to their car at 4800 Briarcliff Road when they were approached by three suspects at about 9:15 p.m., the police report said. One of the suspects asked the man to call the suspect's parents on his cell phone so they could pick him and the other suspects up. The man dialed the number and said it was disconnected. The suspects offered another number, and it went to voicemail.

When one of the suspects asked for the phone so he could call, the man refused, and two suspects pulled out semi-automatic handguns and demanded the phone and money and threatened to kill him.

The man told the suspects his wife – who was by then in the couple's car – was calling 911. The suspects fled the scene in a dark colored, older-model, boxy sedan – possibly a Toyota Corolla – and headed north toward Northlake Parkway, the report said.
