DeKalb CEO Should Resign, Report Says
Lee May violated the public's trust, say the report's authors, Mike Bowers and Richard Hyde.

DeKalb Interim CEO Lee May should resign, according to a new report that details corruption throughout the embattled county’s government.
According to the AJC, the report’s authors -- former Georgia Attorney General Mike Bowers and his lead investigator, Richard Hyde -- claim that May violated public trust by taking a questionable loan from a county employee.
The final report was made available on Wednesday.

Bowers and Hyde also called on other DeKalb officials to resign, and cited examples of improper and possibly illegal spending by five of the county’s seven commissioners.
Among those are Jeff Rader of District 2, which includes much of Brookhaven and north-central DeKalb. The report says Rader donated $20,000 to Park Pride Atlanta and $6,000 to the DeKalb Historical Society, donations that violate the state constitution’s gratuities clause.

Also mentioned was Commission Kathie Gannon, who the report chided for purchasing $1,300 in gift cards from various retailers.
May hired Bowers earlier this year to conduct an investigation into DeKalb’s spending. The cost of the investigation is expected to reach $1 million.
