Lakeside City Alliance Community Meeting

The Lakeside Community Alliance announced today that its next community meeting will be April 18 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road in Northeast Atlanta.

The event, which is expected to draw hundreds of area residents interested in the potential formation of a city of Lakeside, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church’s Carlos Community Center at 2500 Clairmont Road NE, Atlanta, 30329.

Volunteers from the Lakeside City Alliance, a non-profit group of neighborhood volunteers, will take questions from the community about the pros and cons of incorporations of a new city. The guest speaker will be Oliver Porter, a Sandy Springs resident who won an award for his expertise on the creation of efficient cities. Porter is the author of the book: “Creating the New City of Sandy Springs: The 21st Century Paradigm.”

Interest in a potential city has been tremendous, and turnout has been at capacity or more at recent meetings. LCA had to reschedule the April 1 meeting at Clairmont Presbyterian Church to accommodate the anticipated turnout. And in late March, the DeKalb Fire Marshal had to turn away more than 100 DeKalb County residents at Tucker Middle School who turned out to hear about the potential city of Lakeside.
