FREE Olive Oil and Vinegar Tasting/Spring Fever Party at Petite Auberge, March 7

FREE Olive Oil and Vinegar Tasting Party, at Petite Auberge, March 7, with free samples, hors d'oeuvres and cooking demos, discounts, more!

Petite Auberge, 2935 N. Druid Hills Road NE, invites the public to enjoy a Spring Fever celebration/tasting in the Olive Oil and Vinegar Boutique, on Saturday, March 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event features free samples from the retail collection of approximately 30 varieties of flavored and infused olive oils (including EVOO) and vinegars (including balsamic). Party festivities also include complimentary cooking demonstrations and hors d’ oeuvres as well as discounted specialty cocktails! Also, there will be a special 10% discount on all olive oil and vinegar purchases for the evening. For more information, call 404-634-6268.

According to Anthony Gropp, co-owner and head chef, “Our Olive Oil and Vinegar parties are a great way for people to check out all of the uses of this versatile product. Most people now know that cooking with extra virgin olive oil is healthier than butter and other oils, but do they know that certain balsamics make great dessert toppers or that you can use them for a fresh twist on a classic cocktail?”

Gropp notes that one of his favorite desserts to make (that was recently featured on the Valentine’s Day menu) is the Strawberry Heart–fresh Strawberries marinated in strawberry balsamic served over vanilla bean ice cream and topped with whipped cream, all tucked into a pastry heart—while a customer favorite cocktail is the Georgia Peach made with champagne, peach balsamic, simple syrup and orange juice.

The Petite Auberge Olive Oil and Vinegar Boutique features olive oils and vinegars to be tasted, custom blended, bottled and sold to patrons to take home to cook with or give away as gifts. The products are sold in three different sizes: a 200ml bottle costs $10.95, while the 375ml bottle runs $16.95, and a full wine bottle size (at 750ml) is priced at $23.95. Patrons may taste any and all oils and vinegars, with or without sampling bread, before purchase.

Oil flavors range from garlic and Tuscan herb to blood orange, while vinegar options include chocolate, raspberry and even peach tastes. All of the olive oils are ultra fresh, and the sales staff can even tell customers when the olives were pressed (by date or season). Product is stored in stainless steel Fustis until sold, when they are transferred into dark green bottles to ensure that the delicate flavors and the polyphenols (heart healthy antioxidants in the olive oil) do not break down due to exposure to light. All of Petite’s olive oils contain a high concentration of antioxidants, increasing the health benefits of the product.
