GHSA Moves Up Lakeside, St. Pius X in Classifications

Druid Hills could move to Class AAAAA unless they choose to remain where they are.

The Georgia High School Association has reclassified its member schools, moving up Lakeside and St. Pius X high schools for the 2014-15 academic year.

Under the GHSA plan, Lakeside would join Tucker in becoming a Class AAAAAA school. St. Pius X would move to Class AAAA.

Druid Hills would move down to Class AAAAA unless they choose to remain higher.

According to the Georgia High School Football Daily, it will be the first time since 1985 that Tucker will play in the state's highest class.

This is the first step in the GHSA’s process of realigning schools every two years.

Schools will be divided into regions in early December, then finalized in January. Dec. 2 is the deadline for a school to submit their intent to play at a higher classification.
