Kohls at Northlake Mall to Close in June

ATLANTA, GA -- Kohls at Northlake Mall in DeKalb County is one of 18 stores the company will be closing this summer.

Kohls is also closing its store in Lithonia and its Holcomb Bridge Road location in Roswell, according to a recent statement from the company.

The retailer also says it is offering employees the chance to work at another nearby Kohls or accept a severance package. Kohl’s stores employ approximately 80-100 associates per location.

Kohls announced last month that it would target 18 stores for closure, as well as pilot seven new smaller format Kohl’s stores in various regions around the country. It also plans to add two additional Off/Aisle pilot stores in Wisconsin, and open 12 Fila outlet stores, marking Kohl’s first entry into the outlet space.

The closures represent "underperforming stores representing less than one percent of total sales," according to the Wisconsin-based retail department store chain.

It is the nation's second-largest department-store chain, according to sales, behind Macy's.

In metro Atlanta, the nearest Kohl's stores are in Duluth, Roswell, Marietta and Snellville.
