Lakeside and Briarcliff Seek Public Input for New Name

The two communities are working together to create a new city.

Lakeside and Briarcliff representatives are asking the public to help vote for a new name as the two communities plan to merge into a new city in DeKalb County.

Lakeside and Briarcliff Cityhood Groups have worked together for six months to compromise on a new boundary map, according to a press release. The groups are currently negotiating with the city of Tucker for the proposed new city’s eastern boundary.

The state legislature has given the city groups until Nov. 15 to agree on a proposed boundary.

“It’s appropriate that local neighborhoods have input in choosing the new city’s name,” said Mary Kay Woodworth of Lakeside YES.
