Sophia Academy Names Michelle Zierten as New Principal
Zierten will begin working at the school Aug. 1.

Michelle Zierten will join as the new principal of Sophia Academy on Aug. 1.
She has more than 20 years of strong leadership and supervisory experience, managing more than 30 teachers and designing their professional development.Â
Experience includes national training of teachers in many areas including technology. Zierten has been principal and executive director for several schools including preschools and High Meadows School. She has directed specialized populations including assessing those with learning differences, recommending action and supporting teachers with inclusion plans.Â

Her education includes a master's in educational leadership and supervision, Kennesaw State University and a bachelor's in elementary education with a concentration in music-vocal performance from University of Wisconsin-Madison. She produced musical productions for children during summers and in after-school programs, has been a pet therapist through Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, singer at weddings and restaurants and is an avid tennis player. Zierten has a high school daughter and attends St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church.
