Suspects Sought in Attempted Car Theft

The incident happened at the Royal Food Store on Buford Highway.

Brookhaven police are investigating an attempted car theft at Royal Food Store on Buford Highway.

Investigators believe the victim was followed to the food store after cashing a check at his bank.

“Within seconds of parking his vehicle, at least three suspects in a maroon or burgundy, four-door Dodge Ram pickup blocked his vehicle,” police said in a statement. “A black male wearing a black tee shirt and khaki pants then entered the victim’s car, stealing the cash from inside. A black male in a burgundy hoody then entered the food store, acting as a lookout while the first suspect attempted to steal the victim’s car. The victim interrupted the theft, and all of the offenders fled.
