SWAT Teams Clear Suspicious Package on I-85

All roads are back open after the highway was shut down for more than two hours on Saturday morning.

I-85 southbound in Atlanta was shut down for more than two hours on Saturday morning as police investigated a suspicious package near the Lenox Road/Cheshire Bridge road exit.

Officers responded to a suspicious package call around 8:45, according to Atlanta police spokesman John Chaffee.

"Officers located a black bag beside the highway and notified the APD SWAT team," Chaffee said. "I-85 southbound just north of the incident was also shut down. Our SWAT units responded and were able to determine that the bag was of no threat and contained a number of small empty boxes."
