Rocky Mount Elementary School third grade teacher Kristy White received the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom Award from the Atlanta Falcons.
The award includes the following:
- $1,000 donation to White's classroom
- “Heroes” award certificate
- Two tickets to a Falcons regular season game
- In-game video board recognition
- Pre-Game VIP sideline experience
- School visit by sponsors to recognize White's achievement
SunTrust Bank presents the award through a community program that recognizes 16 Georgia teachers for outstanding leadership and instructional skills during the Atlanta Falcons season.

Hero selection is based on a teacher’s ability to:
- Balance the core curriculum with students’ individual needs
- Build trust among students, parents and the community
- Invest in their students' long-term success
White graduated from Kennesaw University with degrees in Social Work and Elementary Education. She has also completed ESOL (English as a Second Language), and recently finished her Masters in Educational Technology.

White, who has taught for 13 years, is in her fifth year teaching at Rocky Mount.
