Cobb Christmas Hosts The Night Before Cobb Christmas

What's happening today in Northeast Cobb and nearby communities.

 1. As part of its Classroom Holiday Celebration, the second grade class at Shallowford Falls Elementary will host a free Holiday Performance at 8:30am. Shallowford Falls Elementary School is located at 3529 Lassiter Rd. 2.  For six weeks local non-profit organizations have decorated their own Christmas trees and had them on display in the atrium of the Embassy Suites Atlanta - Galleria.  Corporate sponsors subsidized the cost of the trees.  Each tree features envelopes to allow the public to cast votes for their favorite tree and make donations to the non-profit. A grand prize of $250 from the Embassy Suites will be awarded to the organization with the highest monetary donation votes. The trees will be on display for donations through January 5th.   The hotel will host a 25th Anniversary Gala Reception which will feature local choirs, performing organizations, musicians, food and holiday spirits to showcase the trees.   For more information, contact Dale Gustafson at (770) 984-9300. 3.  The "Holiday Spectacular on Ice" is a winter wonderland show of wow and surprises.  The entire family will enjoy this production which features music, comedy and dance all done while skating on ice - spectacular!  Produced by Georgia native and internationally acclaimed director/producer Jeb Rand.  Corporate sponsors include Q100, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and 680 The Fan. 4. Cobb Christmas, Inc. will host their annual fundraiser, The Night Before Cobb Christmas. The event will take place at the Cobb Christmas, Inc. Warehouse at Jim Miller Park. The event kicks-off at 5:30 p.m. with a behind-the-scenes look inside the heart of the event - the distribution center.  The event features a tour of the distribution site, dinner, silent auction and entertainment. The price is $10 a person. 5. The Power of Now Discussion Group focuses on the book by Eckhart Tolle, The Power of NOW. How do you live in the NOW? What does living in the NOW moment really mean? Come to this group and discover ways for this to work in your life. This group starts with a meditation and a DVD clip featuring a lecture from Eckhart Tolle. The meeting continues with a great discussion about the message that was just heard. This is a group that is ongoing so you can come on the Thursday that fits your schedule. 7 p.m - 8 p.m. Free.  Unity North Atlanta Church, 4255 Sandy Plains Road.
