Cobb Fall Citizens Public Safety Academy Accepting Applicants
Enrollment is now open for the Fall Citizens Public Safety Academy, which begins Tuesday, September 5.
MARIETTA, GA -- The Cobb County Department of Public Safety (DPS) is looking for a few good men and women to take part in its Citizens Public Safety Academy this fall. The 14-week program is open to residents who live in Cobb or are employed by its government or school system.
The academy offers a chance for civilians to learn the ins and outs of life inside a major public safety department. The course will touch on the vital aspects of the Police, Fire, Animal Control, and 911 departments and how they are all organized and work in harmony with one another. The Fall Academy begins Tuesday, September 5, at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Cobb County Public Safety Training Academy at 2109 Valor Drive in Marietta.

To sign up, residents must be at least 21 of age and fill out an application, according to a news release by Cobb Public Safety Director Sam Heaton. Applications can be emailed or picked up at the DPS Training Center located at 2109 Valor Drive, Marietta, GA 30008.
Once it is filled out, the application will need to be submitted by 4 p.m. Friday, August 25, to the Cobb County Public Safety Internal Affairs Department, 1150 Powder Springs Street, Suite 300, Marietta, 30064. A copy of applicants' driver's licenses will be needed for the application process.
