Kimberly Carducci is making a big splash as a North Carolina freshman.

A alumna is the national college swimmer of the week, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Kimberly Carducci, a freshman at the University of North Carolina, earned the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Swimmer of the Week award by winning two races and finishing second in a third during the Virginia Tech Invitational over the weekend.
Carducci posted career-best times in all three races, winning the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races in 23.61 and 50.85 seconds, respectively, and finishing as the runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.28, according to UNC’s athletics website, TarHeelBlue.com.

She improved by 0.14 second in the 50 freestyle, 0.34 second in the 100 freestyle and 1.21 seconds in the 100 back, according to her UNC team bio.
