Former Cobb Teacher Sentenced For Sex With Student
BREAKING: Christopher Wade Brown, 37, pleaded guilty earlier this week to having a sex with a 17-year-old female student.
NORTHEAST COBB, GA -- A former Mount Paran Christian School teacher was sentenced to 20 years, 10 behind bars, for having sex with a student, Cobb County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
The sentence comes one week after Christopher Wade Brown, 37, pleaded guilty to having a sex with a 17-year-old female student.
After he cut off that relationship, Brown tried to start a similar fling with a 17-year-old at Roswell High School, which led to charges in Fulton County.

Although state law says that 16 is the age of consent, those conditions do not cover those in positions of authority -- such as a teacher at the same school -- who have sexual contact with a minor.
"This is not some sentence about a consensual -type relationship, this was definitely an individual who used a position of authority and power and it's just not going to be tolerated," Cobb County Assistant District Attorney David Williamson told WAGA-TV in an on-air interview.

Brown taught at Mt. Paran Christian School when he allegedly had relations with the 17-year-old in July 2016.
Williamson read a statement from the victim, saying that Brown "stole so much from me," and that he is "the worst thing that has happened to me."
"This case is about a man who used his position of trust and authority to manipulate and exploit for his own selfish sexual desires," Williamson said. "This sentnce sends a strong message that the citizens of Cobb County will not tolerate teachers who take advantage of students entrusted to their care."
Brown must register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
