Hurricane Harvey: Cobb Sheriff Expresses Sympathies For Fallen Texas Officer

Cobb County Sheriff's Office expresses condolences for fallen Texas officer who died in Hurricane Harvey.

MARIETTA, GA -- The tears shed for a fallen Texas officer in Hurricane Harvey have created a blue streak all the way to Georgia. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office joined in the mourning of Sgt. Steve Perez, who perished in the waters wrought by Harvey.

Cobb police retweeted the Houston post, but added, "Our Thoughts and Prayers are with the & the Perez family. Our Hearts are Heavy with You."

Law enforcement officers around the nation have expressed similar sentiments and solidarity with Houston PD in the wake of Harvey, an unprecedented natural disaster. Houston has implemented a curfew in the storm-hit areas so as not to put officers in further harm's way. The curfew began Tuesday at 10 p.m. and ran until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
