Kincaid Parent Named to GA Pre-K Board

Gov. Nathan Deal announced the appointment of Dawnn Henderson last week.

Dawnn Henderson of Northeast Cobb was appointed to the Georgia Board of Early Care and Learning by Gov. Nathan Deal, the governor's office announced Friday.

The board oversees the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, known as Bright from the Start.

The board has 13 members, one from each congressional district. Henderson apparently fills the vacant 6th District seat, previously held by Gabrielle Braswell.

Henderson is the chief writer and web content coordinator for Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. She telecommutes from her Marietta-area home.

She serves on the Foundation board of directors and is the foundation’s communications and marketing chairwoman. Here's the list of the foundation's leaders and volunteers this year.

Henderson and her husband, Colin, have three children. The children attended Georgia Pre-K, and Henderson was actively involved as a parent volunteer.

She recently participated in a parent task force providing feedback on Georgia Pre-K for Bright from the Start Commissioner Bobby Cagle.

Henderson holds a journalism degree from the University of Nebraska.
