Lassiter Golfers 4th, Kell 6th in State

Trojan Michael Toler closes his high school career by tying for fourth in Georgia.

Both senior Michael Toler and the Trojan team tied for fourth at the Georgia High School Association’s AAAAA state golf championships Monday in Augusta.

“Mikey Toler finishes his career with an even par performance at state championship,” Lassiter Athletics tweeted.

Toler’s 72 at the Champions Retreat Golf Club tied him with Sanders Park and Benedictine’s Chris Sells five shots behind individual champion Jonathan Keppler of .

As a team, Lassiter finished at 308, tied with six shots behind champion Milton.

Joining Toler in scoring for the Trojans were Max Weyrick and Andrew Couch at 78 and Brody Judd at 80. Adam Wright shot 82, and Parker Usry finished at 84.

At the AAAA boys tournament, played at the Jones Creek Golf Club, finished sixth by shooting 315, 15 shots back of champion .

Michael and Matthew Hines finished in the top 10 in the state by each shooting 2-over-par 74 to lead the Longhorns. Mark Decoster was just behind them at 76. David Decoster and Matt Shriver each shot 91, and Paul Varner posted 93.

John Sterrett, who earned a spot at the state championships as an individual, shot 78.
