Mabry Declared No Place for Hate

The Northeast Cobb school is one of the first middle schools in Cobb County to earn the ADL designation.

celebrated its new designation as a No Place for Hate school Thursday morning at a student ceremony featuring a 6-foot banner and Atlanta Braves mascot Homer.

Holli Levinson, the education project director for the Anti-Defamation League's Southeast Region, and praised Mabry's administration, faculty and students for making acceptance an everyday message at the Northeast Cobb school.

The ADL began the anti-bullying initiative in 2007 and recgnizes about 150 schools a year through the No Place for Hate certification process. But the program is new this year in Cobb County.

"Every year you have to re-earn your designation," Levinson said, adding that the ADL asks schools to do one thing different each year to keep the message fresh.
