Marietta Man Killed In Flip-Over Crash On South Cobb Drive: ICYMI

Bruce Barker, 66, of Marietta was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash June 23 on South Cobb Drive.

MARIETTA, GA -- Police in Cobb County said speed is a contributing factor in a fatal crash which occurred in Marietta recently. The collision happened on June 23 around 12:15 p.m. in on South Cobb Drive near Appleton Drive police said.
Authorities said a white 1996 Ford Ranger was traveling southbound on South Cobb while a red 2012 Ford Mustang was traveling on the street in the opposite direction. The Ranger turned left into a private drive, colliding with the right side of the Ranger, Cobb police spokeswoman Officer Alicia Chilton said. The collision was so violent that the truck was upended and flipped into the air, a witness told local news.

“The guy in the Mustang passed me and he was moving,” witness Corey Youngblood told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The next thing you know, “The white truck was flipping.”

The driver of the Ford Ranger, identified as 66-year old Bruce Barker of Marietta, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from Cobb police. Jabriel Wooden of Marietta, was driving the Ford Mustang.
Wooden, 21, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.
