SAFE DRIVE FOR A CURE RAISES FUNDS FOR PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION

Truck driving safety competition serves as warm up for National Competition and raises money for PBTF.

On Saturday, March 19, 2016, over 70 drivers participated in the Safety Drive for a Cure event held at the Holland Atlanta, GA terminal. Drivers from all over the southeast and as far away as North Dakota came to tune up their safety skills before the state truck driving competition season kicks off.

Several major trucking companies, truck manufacturers and fleet operators were represented through the drivers and equipment loaned for the competitions.

Plaques were awarded to the top performers in each of the various classes of trucks tested. A special plaque for the top Vehicle Inspection was awarded in memory of David Messmer, a beloved and decorated, 25 year driver for Roadway, now YRC.

Various fundraisers were run at the event from silent auctions to a drawing for a trailer. The money raised went towards the 2016 Atlanta Ride for Kids total, benefitting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The total amount raised was over $14,200.

Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is a non-profit organization that relies on generous philanthropic and volunteer support. It is also the first non-profit organization in the United States to focus on the brain tumor disease.
