Earth Day Celebration Planned at Nearby Elachee Nature Center
Event will feature activities for children and adults.
Parents can enjoy a series of backyard conservation workshops while their children play during Elachee Nature Center's Earth Day celebration.
On April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Elachee staff and volunteers will lead animal programs, woodland hikes, crafts and other activities geared towards children. Adults can participate in a series of backyard conservation workshops including:

- "Green Roofs and Rainwater Harvesting": Julie Evans of the Fockele Garden Company
- "The Basics of Effective Tree Planting": arborist Odis Sisk of Global Tree Preservation
- "Backyard Composting": Peter Gordon of Elachee Nature Science Center
- "Energy Conservation in the Home": Tim Bala, Lanier Technical College. Plus, guest can tour our new "E-House," an energy efficient demonstration house, complete withsolar panels, a “Solatube” skylight, sustainable building components that save both energy and money, and xeriscaping (a special type of landscaping that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental waterfrom irrigation).
