Free Third Thursday evening art tour scheduled for this Thursday, Dec. 18

ATHENS, Ga. – The next Third Thursday­ – the monthly evening art tour of seven public art galleries – is scheduled for this Thursday, Dec. 18 from 6-9 p.m.

Third Thursday was established in 2012 to encourage attendance at Athens’ established art venues through cooperation and co-promotion by the organizing entities.

The Dec. 18 tour will include the following exhibits/galleries at these stops:

· Lyndon House Arts Center – “Full House 2014,” a biennial invitational exhibit open to the members of the 18 guilds and art groups that call Lyndon House home. The “Deck the Walls” special exhibition features art available for sale and ideal for gift giving.

· Hotel Indigo – The “Equations” exhibit is a collection of works by artists who look at mathematics, strategies in logic and research, geometry and mapping and statistics.

· The Classic Center – “Nature Revealed” and “Then and Now: Celebrating 40 Years of the Lyndon House Arts Center”

· Georgia Museum of Art –”Boxers and Backbeats: Tomata du Plenty and the West Coast Punk Scene,” “The . . . of E6, part of Athens Celebrates Elephant Six,” “The Nightmare Transported into Art: Odilon Redon’s ‘St. Anthony’,” “Emilio Pucci in America,” “Not Ready to Make Nice: Guerrilla Girls in the Artworld and Beyond, “A Year on the Hill: Work by Jim Fiscus and Chris Bilheimer” and Terra Verte

· Ciné – “Baffle Medusa” by Jeff Owens

The Third Thursday shuttle, which is sponsored by The Classic Center Cultural Foundation, will circulate through all of the art venues every 30 minutes. Free parking is available at the Lyndon House Arts Center, the Georgia Museum of Art and the Lamar Dodd School of Art and ATHICA.

All exhibits are free and open to the public during Third Thursday.
