Health District, Oconee, Clarke Lag Nation On COVID Vaccinations

The Northeast Health District added 99 new cases and two deaths from disease in last seven days.

The Northeast Health District added 99 new cases of COVID-19 in the week ending on Friday and two new confirmed deaths attributed to the disease.

The 99 added cases of COVID-19 compare with the 141 cases and the four confirmed deaths added in the week ending May 28.

Oconee County added six cases in the week ending on Friday, and Clarke County added 16.

The two confirmed deaths were in Jackson and Madison counties.

The University of Georgia on Wednesday, in its COVID-19 Health and Exposure Update, reported no positive COVID-19 tests for the second week in a row.

The Georgia Hospital Association and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency reported on Friday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals was 20, the number of ICU beds in use was 46, and the number of adult ventilators in use was 26.

Oconee County has 38.7 percent of its residents fully vaccinated, and Clarke County has 31.2 percent fully vaccinated.

The statewide figure is 33.1 percent, and the national figure is 41.4 percent.
