OCHS's Coach Olson: "I Think We Needed a Change"

The coach will stay at the school and is willing, if asked, to assist the new coach.

Mitch Olson, head football coach at Oconee County High, decided there was one way to improve the performance of the football team: he would leave.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Olson spent most of the season figuring out how to help them before he came to that conclusion. Oconee County didn't make the state playoffs for the 5th consecutive year, finishing its season 2-8 overall and 2-5 in Region 8-AAA.

He plans to stay at the school and keep teaching in the social studies department, the story says. Olson came from John F. Kennedy High School in California and arried in Oconee County in 2008.
