OMG PD: Robbery Thwarted When Woman Vomits on Attacker

Man allegedly jumped her in the parking lot at Georgia Square Mall in Athens.

An attempt to snatch a Watkinsville woman’s purse in the parking lot of the Georgia Square Mall ended suddenly when she apparently vomited on the robber.

The Athens-Clarke Police said in a media release that the woman was walking to her vehicle around 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, when a male jumped her and attempted to take her purse.

“The male struck in her face and put his hand on her throat while pushing her up against another vehicle. She said that during a struggle over her purse, she threw up on the suspect and he let go of her.”

The woman told police the man was laughing during the assault. He left in a silver sedan, possibly a Toyota or Honda.

The suspect, who wore a black ski mask, was described as 5 feet 10 or 11 with an average build.
