September 1 BOC Meeting Highlights

The Oconee County Board of Commissioners held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The following actions were taken at the meeting:

  • Announcements
    • The next Board of Commissioners meeting and the first reading of and public hearing for the Hotel-Motel Excise Tax Ordinance will take place Tuesday, September 22, 2020
    • All residents are reminded to complete the 2020 Census
    • Cole Springs Road from Snows Mill Road to State Route 53 will be closed beginning September 16, 2020
  • Approved Hardship Variance No. P20­-0144 with one condition for 5.54 acres located at 1240 Twin Oaks Trail, Watkinsville, to place a guest house in the side yard of a residential property
  • Approved Hardship Variance No. P20-­0147 with one condition for 2.16 acres located at 2796 River’s Edge to place a detached garage in the front yard of a residential property
  • Approved a contract modification for the Malcom Bridge Road Elementary School and Middle School Parent/Staff Entrance on Malcom Bridge Road in the amount of $6,465.60 for widening concrete and $38,241.25 to reconcile actual quantities of the project for a final contract price of $606,084.10
  • Approved purchase of a Sutphen Fire Engine for Fire Station No. 2 in Farmington at a cost of $512,900.10 (2015 SPLOST Funds) via H­GAC Cooperative Purchasing Program
  • Approved acceptance of surplus landscape blocks from the City of Watkinsville
