Watkinsville, GA July 25, 2018

The Baynes family has had a love for bunnies ever since their pet bunny, Frodo, came to live with them many, many years ago. Frodo, was the sweetest, “lovingest,” fluffiest bunny ever, according to the Baynes family. The Baynes family did not own Frodo; Frodo owned them.

Tracy Baynes and Aly Baynes, collaborated on The Adventures of Dr. Carrotsticks: Chapter 1: The Evil Plan. The character of Dr. Carrotsticks was originated by Aly. Aly, who has a love for drawing, would always ask her mother what she would like for her to draw for her. Tracy would always answer, “a bunny.” One day, Aly drew a bunny sitting at a desk thinking about taking over the world. She called him Dr. Carrotsticks and the story began. Since Dr. Carrotsticks was Aly’s original character, she was natural choice as illustrator.

Tracy Baynes is an early care and education educator. She has been a life-long advocate for the language development of young children so the book became the way to bring her advocacy into further light. Dr. Carrotsticks was written with intentionality toward Tier 2 and Tier 3 words to help expand children’s vocabulary in a fun way.
