Free Yard Debris Pickup Offered In Peachtree Corners
After Hurricane Irma, the city will help clear downed limbs and other debris from your yard starting next week.
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — In the wake of Hurricane Irma, the City of Peachtree Corners is offering some free help to residents cleaning up after the storm.
Starting Monday, the city will provide free curbside collection of storm debris for city residents. The city is asking residents to follow the following guidelines:
- Tree limbs and branches brought down during the storm may be cut and stacked behind the curb of a residence. Under no circumstances should any type of storm debris be stacked or placed in the street.
- Tree limbs and branches should not be stacked or placed on private property or next to fire hydrants, utility boxes, or utility poles. In addition, tree limbs and branches must not be mixed with other debris such as roofing tiles, fence materials, or other items damaged during the storm. This clean-up effort only applies to tree limbs, branches, clippings and other vegetative debris.
- Downed trees must be cut as small as possible and each piece must weigh less than 50 pounds. All pieces must be stacked neatly at the curb.
- Branches and limbs must be trimmed and cut to a maximum of four feet, stacked neatly at the curb or placed in an approved receptacle.
- If a professional company was hired for your debris management, the city asks that they take the debris with them to reduce the volume stored in the right of way.
- All yard trimmings must be in 20 to 40-gallon durable metal or plastic containers with two handles or biodegradable paper bags folded over at the top.
- Yard trimmings or debris cannot be collected in plastic bags.
- The removal of this debris will be completed as quickly as possible, but no timetable is available at this time without knowing the volume of debris that will be generated.
- For more information residents are encouraged to check the city's website.
