Georgia Weather Forecast: A Freeze Warning This Weekend

Temperatures in north Georgia could dip into the upper 20s in some areas on Friday night and Saturday morning.

ATLANTA, GA — We all knew those spring-like temperatures couldn't last forever. This weekend, winter will briefly roar back — at least by Georgia standards.

But don't pack your short sleeves away just yet. The chill isn't expected to last for long.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for much of north Georgia for late Friday night and early Saturday morning. In effect from midnight to 9 a.m., the warning says that temperatures in some areas could dip into the upper 20s.

The warm-up will begin almost immediately, though, according to the NWS. Saturday's high temperature is forecast to be 59 degrees and, by Sunday, we should be seeing a high around 66.

Dry conditions and heavy winds could also lead to a fire hazard in north and central Georgia, the weather service warned.
