Georgia Weather Forecast: How Hot Will This Weekend Get?

Of course there's a chance of thunderstorms in metro Atlanta this weekend. But how hot will it get when the sun is actually out?

ATLANTA, GA — This time of year, it's not really a news flash any more to tell you that there's going to be a chance of thunderstorms this weekend. Well, here's some more breaking news for Georgia in July — it's also going to be hot.

After a high that was expected to hit 94 on Friday, we'll be in the 90s again on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The service is calling for a high of 92 on Saturday — with the heat index going all the way up to 98.

We'll flirt with 90 again on Sunday. The forecast high that day is 89.

Now ... about those thunderstorms.

There will be a 30 percent chance of storms and showers Saturday afternoon and evening, mainly after 3 p.m. and before 9 p.m. Sunday brings the same 30 percent chance of rain, starting around 9 a.m., and that chance is going to shoot up to 50-50 by Sunday night.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 98. Saturday night, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 75.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74.
