Georgia Weather Forecast: Showers And Storms Much Of This Week

ATLANTA, GA — There actually will be some sunshine in metro Atlanta this coming week.

It's just that there's going to be a lot of rain, and a good chance of thunderstorms, the rest of the time.

Tuesday and most of Wednesday promise to be the brights spots this coming work week. Every other day this work week promises weather that's bound to be a good deal wetter.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms will be as high as 80 percent some days this week. Monday, Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday all will bring at least a 50 percent chance of rain.

Here's a look at your work week weather forecast for metro Atlanta, from the National Weather Service:

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 p.m. Areas of fog before 11 a.m. High near 73. Southwest wind around 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 25 m.p.h. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 54. West wind 10 to 15 m.p.h., with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 77. Mostly clear Tuesday night, with a low around 58.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 82. Wednesday night, a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 9 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 9 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Thursday night, showers and thunderstorms likely before 9 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 9 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 56. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53.
