Georgia Weather: MLK Jr. Weekend Forecast Brings Warmer Temperatures

Forget the ice storm -- metro Atlanta will be enjoying the weather during this 3-day weekend.

ATLANTA, GA — Remember last weekend, when everything was iced over and temperatures were diving down into the teens at night? Well, welcome to wintertime in Georgia.

Oh ... and you might want to go grab a pair of shorts.

High temperatures for this Martin Luther King Jr. weekend are expected to range from the mid-60s to right around 70 in Atlanta. Lows will be in the 50s and there's not much chance for any rainfall until Monday night at the soonest.

So, get out, enjoy the holiday weekend and put those memories of a few iced-in days far behind. Here's a look at the weekend weather forecast for the Atlanta area from the National Weather Service:

  • Friday. Partly sunny with a high near 72. Mostly cloudy Friday night with a low around 52.
  • Saturday. Partly sunny with a high around 68. Mostly cloudy Saturday night with a low, again, around 52.
  • Sunday. Partly sunny with a high around 69. Partly cloudy. The low will again be around 52.
  • Monday. For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high around 65. There's a 20 percent chance of rain Monday night, when the low should be around 53.
