Q: Along with the plans for the Town Center which includes retail shops, restaurants, town homes and a town green, will there be any other amenities?

A: Yes, the city would like to add a pedestrian bridge which would span Peachtree Parkway from The Forum to the new Town Center. But it would be more than just a bridge - it would actually be a destination. Imagine an expansive walkway that had benches and maybe flowers and trees where you could stop and sit along the way. After crossing the road, the bridge would wind its way through trees, over a creek and end at a walkway to the Town Green. It’s still in the development stage, funding would come through grants and SPLOST funds.

A: We’ve had a lot of favorable responses to our call for veterans. We’ve heard from men and women who are currently serving, many veterans and a number of families with spouses, and other family members who have served our country. It will be a great privilege to honor all of those who served or are serving. A committee, the Peachtree Corners Veterans Monument Association, has been formed. Headed by several veterans, the committee is diligently working on plans for the design of the monument and its location. The committee is also working on a website, which is expected to be launched soon where you will be able to keep up with the plans, volunteer, make donations and find other information.

Q: What is the city’s plans for adding walking and bicycle trails throughout Peachtree Corners?

A: The city is looking at designing Peachtree Corners’ own beltline. We’ve got some wonderful opportunities to create a pedestrian and bicycle trail system throughout the city. A great short-term project would be to use the Colonial Pipeline easement that runs through Tech Park as a first phase. The trail would eventually be tied into a network of trails throughout the city. The core of this multi-use path would be centered around Peachtree Parkway between Holcomb Bridge and Medlock Bridge roads. It is intended to serve not only as a recreational amenity for the city, but also as an alternate transportation corridor for commuters. Funding would come from SPLOST.
