Peachtree Corners' Website Wins National Award

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — If you use the City of Peachtree Corners website to keep up with what's going on locally, you're looking at an award winner.

The city has been honored in the 2017 Pinnacle Awards Competition for best website by the National Association of Government Web Professionals. Peachtree Corners took top honors in the category of governments with a population from 40,001-95,000.

"We are extremely pleased to learn that the Peachtree Corners website received this national recognition," said council member Jeanne Aulbach. “"The city launched the new site just two and
half years ago and the staff has worked diligently to ensure the site has pertinent information posted for our residents and businesses."

The awards are judged by a group of Web professionals inside and outside of the government website industry and are awarded based on specific criteria that include content, organization, design, performance and flexibility.

Judges also look at responsive design, accessibility standards and interactivity.

To be considered for the award, a written entry focusing on a 10-criteria checklist was required. The entry had to prove how the website met each of the criteria.

Michael Powell, the city’s website content specialist, submitted a three-plus page submission in June. The
announcement that the City of Peachtree Corners had been selected as the winner for its category was made on Sept. 21 during the NAGW’s awards banquet at its annual conference held in San Diego, California.

Awards were presented this year in each of four population categories for cities and counties as well as a Pinnacle award for state/federal agencies, microsites and special site features.

"It is commendable that the city’s communications department has been recognized for its outstanding website," said City Manager Brian Johnson. "Our entire staff works daily to ensure the website is up-to-date and provides information, news and announcements that the community can use.
