ATLANTA, GA — There will be plenty of local interest in the 2017 SEC Championship Game on Saturday, when home-state team Georgia faces neighbors-to-the-west Auburn at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m. local time.
The 11-1 Bulldogs (7-1 SEC) and the 10-2 Tigers (7-1 SEC) will be meeting for the second time this season. In a Week 11 matchup, Auburn defeated then-No. 1 ranked Georgia, 40-17, handing the Bulldogs their only loss on the year.

Georgia had sealed the SEC East championship with a 24-10 victory over South Carolina the week before, while Auburn sewed up the SEC West by upsetting arch-rival Alabama, 26-14, in the final week of the regular season.
As it often does, the SEC Championship will have national title implications. Auburn goes into the game ranked No. 4 nationally, while UGA sits at No. 6. Whichever team wins is virtually assured a spot in the final four teams, who will compete for a spot in the NCAA National Championship Game — also to be played at Mercedes-Benz on Jan. 8.
