Severe Storms Possible Thursday In Metro Atlanta: Georgia Weather
Damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rains are possible between Athens and Atlanta on Thursday, the National Weather Service says.

ATLANTA, GA — "Scattered to numerous" thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening in metro Atlanta, bringing a chance for some severe weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of north and central Georgia. In the outlook, the weather service says "a few storms will be strong to severe from Atlanta to Athens and north."
The main hazards from the storms will be strong to damaging wind gusts and frequent lightning. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible, the outlook says.

The outlook is for areas including Barrow, Clarke, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, and Paulding counties.

Thursday's forecast for Atlanta calls for a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, most of them after 11 a.m. The high temperature will be around 90 degrees and there will be wind gusts up to 15 m.p.h.
The chance of rain bumps up to 30 percent Thursday night. There will be a low around 73, again with wind gusts up to 15 m.p.h.
The National Weather Service says there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day between now and Wednesday.
"There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day, most so during the afternoon and evening hours," the outlook says. "A few storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds ... frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall as the main hazards."
Some flooding in poor drainage areas will be possible, the weather service said.
