Wesleyan Student's National Spelling Bee Journey Comes to a Close
Nicholas Poulos competed among 281 spellers in the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee. However, he did not move on to the semifinal rounds.
Wesleyan School student Nicholas Poulos will not be heading into the semifinal rounds of the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
According to spelling bee results posted Wednesday evening, Nicholas is not one of 41 students named as semifinalists. Those spellers will now compete for a place in the championship round.
This was Nicholas' first time at the national bee. "Bureaucracy" and "mortadella" were among words he spelled correctly in the competition.

A rising eighth-grade student at Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, Nicholas was one of three Georgia students in this year's national competition.
One of those students, Rachael Cundey of Evans, Ga., did make it into the next round. This is her fifth appearance at the national bee.

The Scripps National Spelling Bee concludes May 30 with the semifinal and championship rounds. Some 281 spellers competed in this year's competition.
