Augusta Hospital Takes In Newborns Evacuated From Savannah
An Augusta hospital is accepting neonatal patients from coastal areas ordered to evacuate because of Hurricane Irma, including Savannah.

AUGUSTA, GA — An Augusta health center is accepting neonatal patients from coastal areas in Georgia ordered to evacuate because of Hurricane Irma. WRDW News 12 reports the Children's Hospital of Georgia is accepting the newborn babies, including 10-day old Brantley Dowd from Savannah.
When Irma reaches Georgia early next week, it will bring inches of rain, a risk of tornadoes and winds—surely not the right environment for newborns. All Savannah residents are ordered to evacuate the city Saturday and Sunday.

Dowd's mother, Victoria, said they found out Friday that Brantley would be transported to Augusta from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Health in Savannah.

The Dowds were given a room at the Ronald McDonald house so they could stay close to their newborn in the new city.
