Savannah Fugitive Captured By South Carolina Police Without Incident
A Savannah fugitive who escaped from the Coastal Transitional Center was recaptured after he was spotted by South Carolina police.

SAVANNAH, GA – An escapee from The Coastal Transitional Center is back in custody after he was spotted by a Hardeeville, South Carolina, police officer, authorities said. Terrell Wooten, 36, was reported missing on Sunday, and police began distributing his photo. On Monday morning, police in Hardeeville saw whom they believed was Wooten and, after confirming his identity, arrested him at a local motel.
Wooten is waiting an extradition hearing in The Jasper County Detention Center, police said. Police originally thought he was heading to Macon, Georgia. (For more Savannah news and alerts, please subscribe by clicking here.)
Wooten is serving a five-year sentence for theft by receiving stolen property out of Bibb County, Georgia, according to the local ABC affiliate WJCL22. He was almost two and a half years into his five-year sentence before his escape, the station reported.
