SCCPSS Provides Jobs For More Than 100 Students Through Summer EMBRACE Program

When planning began for the 2021 Summer EMBRACE program, the district's goal was to hire 100 SCCPSS students to provide a fun, interactive, and educational time for elementary children attending SCCPSS Summer School and/or Camps. As of today, the district has surpassed that goal and officially employs approximately 103 high school students at various summer school/camp sites throughout the district.

Students were hired to carry out planned lessons, activities, and/or games for a 4–8-hour summer camp, Monday-Friday. The ages of the children attending the camps range from 4-13.

The interns are assisting supervising teachers with preparing daily activities focused on a weekly theme, with an appropriate balance of independent and teacher-directed activities, a broad range of experiences, and frequent opportunities for children to make choices about what they do.
