SPCC Golf Event Raises over $29,000 for Tee It for the Troops

(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) - Sea Pines Country Club – the lone private club within Sea Pines featuring golf, tennis, multiple pools and fitness – raised over $29,000 at its Tee It Up for the Troops 9th annual charity golf tournament, a 101% increase over 2017.

Held on May 18, the participants included 64 active duty military personnel from the Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station and Naval Hospital and the Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot playing alongside 64 SPCC members. All proceeds of the tournament were donated to Tee It Up for the Troops, which raises money to fund initiatives benefiting U.S. military veterans and their families with special attention for those suffering from PTSD. Tournament donors included many Sea Pines Country Club members, local merchants including Coastal Restaurants, Hilton Head BMW, New York City Pizza Group, PGA Superstore, and dozens of others who donated money, time, goods and services.

“We’re honored to work with the Tee It Up For the Troops’ organization to assist veterans and their loved ones, but are equally pleased to provide a day of fun and prizes to our local active duty Marines and Naval personnel,” says Andrew Dempsey, Sea Pines Country Club TIUFTT Chairperson. “The Sea Pines Country Club members and staff put in an incredible amount of work to generate contributions to the national organization and provide a great event for our active duty guests – we are already looking forward to next year.”
