State Farm Agent Meridth Lamas Helping Empower Women Via Purses

In an effort to empower women in need, State Farm agent Meridth Lamas is hosting a donation drive from May 1 to May 31 entitled “Purse-fully Inspiring.” The campaign is geared toward women that are abused, less fortunate and unemployed. “We will be accepting new or used purses filled with items one would find in a regular purse, such as makeup, hair brushes, mirrors, earrings, lotions, etc.,” said Lamas. “The goal is to build confidence in women who are experiencing hard times.”

Donated purses and items will be distributed among various altruistic organizations in the community. One such organization is SAFE Shelter Center for Domestic Violence Services, whose mission is to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families and the community. Since 1979, SAFE Shelter has been Savannah’s only shelter dedicated to victims of intimate partner violence and their underage children.

“A new purse can increase a woman’s self-esteem and help them feel prepared and confident for a job interview,” concluded Lamas. “I strongly encourage members of the community to donate a new or used purse to help women in need succeed in life.”
