Talmadge Bridge Closed To All Traffic: Hurricane Irma
The Talmadge Memorial Bridge on US 17 is closed until further notice.
SAVANNAH, GA — The Talmadge Memorial Bridge on US 17 is closed until further notice, said officials from The Georgia Department of Transportation. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)
The bridge shut down at 12 p.m. Sunday because of expected tropical storm-force winds from Hurricane Irma.
The predicted strength of the wind at the bridge elevation will render vehicles susceptible to incidents, officials said. The bridge is being closed for the safety of the public until further notice.

GDOT also closed the Sidney Lanier Bridge on SR 25 in Brunswick-Glynn County.

Evacuees should allow themselves extra time to reroute due to bridge closure and exercise caution in their travels, officials said.
